Lyndsey Parker talks Aerosmith and My Chemical Romance Hollywood Bowl shows on ‘Breaking Down the Biz’ podcast

This past weekend, I made two visits to the legendary Hollywood Bowl to see two bands that, in different ways, I once believed I would never get the chance to see again.

On Halloween Eve, I saw My Chemical Romance, who reunited in 2019 and just triumphantly completed a record-setting, sold-out, five-night run at the Bowl, where they excitedly announced their plans to finally begin work on a new album slated for 2027. Then, on Nov. 2, I caught the Bowl’s big all-star Aerosmith & Friends revue, which was assumed to be Aerosmith’s final concert ever after (even host Bill Burr seemed to think so). But now it seems rumors of Steven Tyler’s retirement may have been exaggerated.

Here, I join music industry veteran Seth Schachner on his Breaking Down the Biz podcast to compare the cultural and business signals behind these major Los Angeles concerts. Our conversation shows how legacy acts, devoted fan communities, and a crowded live-music calendar serve very different audiences.
