The Day After Podcast with Jeffery Austin: Week of 12/9

Published On December 13, 2019 » By »

Well, he had a good run. But this week, my “The Day After” cohost Jeffery Austin’s reign of terror came to an end. He can no longer lay claim to being the only Team Gwen contestant to make it to the top four on The Voice. That’s the bad news. The good news is, now the Gwen Stefani-coached Rose Short is now in the running for next week’s Season 17 finale. While Jeffery and I would like to see Team Legend’s Katie Kadan win (and we predict that Team Kelly’s Jake Hoot will prevail), we are also rooting for Rose… even if it means that if she places third or higher, Jeffery’s legacy will effectively be erased.

Of course, Jeffery and I also discuss this week’s two Masked Singer episodes and our newfound adoration and respect for Seal, and we predict that someone else who came in fourth on another big singing competition will win The Masked Singer this time around. We also take a deep dive into this fascinating-to-us study about the most popular reality shows in every state.

Special thanks to our Season 6 American Idol pals (and recent The Big Stage musical guests!) Blake Lewis and Brandon Rogers for our funky theme song. And, if you prefer the written word, check out my Voice, Drag Race, Amercian Idol, Songland, and  Masked Singer articles on Yahoo Entertainment here.
