The Day After Podcast with Jeffery Austin: Week of 1/11

Published On January 17, 2021 » By »

Well, we are now THREE weeks into RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13, and still not a single contestant has yet to sashay away! Everyone has shantéd and stayed! Does that mean this season is going to go on forever? Um, we sure hope so, because my “The Day After” cohost, The Voice finalist Jeffery Austin, and I have nothing else better to do.

So this week, we rejoined the six potentially eliminated Drag Race queens who’d been stranded two weeks ago on the Pork Chop Loading Dock: Denali, Joey Jay, Kahmora Hall, Rosé, Tamisha Iman, and Utica Queen. This week, they rocked three different not-so-mini-challenge runway looks plus a musical maxi-challenge, so Jeffery and I have much to discuss, including Kahmora’s unsupportive boyfriend, Utica’s religious background, Tamisha’s pageant aesthetic, Denali’s skating skills, Joey Jay’s wig-less-ness, the best lewks in Drag Race herstory, and of course, which S13 contestant is the trade of the season.

But that’s not all! We also chat about the Season 2 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. and even revisit Season 1 of the British show, because we just can’t get enough Drag Race right now. Next week, we’ll be back to discuss the versions of Drag Race from both sides of the pond; the Drag Race U.K. Rusical Rats (a parody of Cats!!!!); and maybe even Jeffery’s first impressions of his new musical assignments, a couple of U.K. artists named David Bowie and the Kinks, now that he is so well-versed in Britain’s Beatles.

Special thanks to our American Idol pals Blake Lewis and Brandon Rogers for our funky theme song, and if you prefer the written word, check out my The Voice, Drag Race, American Idol, SonglandAmerica’s Got TalentMasked Singer, and Masked Dancer articles on Yahoo Entertainment here.
