The Day After Podcast with Jeffery Austin: Week of 11/12/18

Published On November 16, 2018 » By »

This week, my “The Day After” podcast co-host, The Voice Season 9 top four finalist Jeffery Austin, and I discuss the Season 15 top 24 Live Playoffs… and the ensuing controversies.

Did stupid team quotas ensure that the best 13 contestants would not advance? Is it really fair that Comeback Stage contestant/no-chair also-ran Lynnea Moorer snagged one of those 13 spots over, say, Colton Smith, Funsho, or Franc West? Is Adam Levine already mentally checked out of this season? And are African-American women forever doomed on The Voice, as evidenced by the distressing lack of public votes this week for two of Season 15′s finest vocalists, SandyRedd and Kymberli Joye?

And we also address the biggest controversy in The Voice history: The disgusting erasure of Jeffery from the two-page Season 9 spread in People’s supposedly collectible Voice retrospective issue! (I won’t be “collecting” it now, k thanks #BoycottPeople)

Oh, and of course, we gab about other things: the Backstreet Boys’ continued hotness, American Idol winner Maddie Poppe’s Hotel Café debut, the just-announced cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 4, and two talent shows we’ll have our eye on in 2019, Rhythm & Flow and The Masked Singer.

And, if you prefer the written word, you can check out my Voice recaps on Yahoo Entertainment right here. PS: Thanks to our good American Idol friends, Blake Lewis and Brandon Rogers. for our snazzy new theme song!
