The Day After Podcast with Jeffery Austin: Week of 3/25

Published On March 29, 2019 » By »

The Day After is through to Hollywood! Hollywood Week of American Idol Season 17 (I refuse to call it “Season 2,” sorry ABC) commenced this week, and if you squinted real hard — or looked at the, like, five Instagram posts I put up, then you know I was in the audience at the Orpheum Theater, watching contestants get engaged and play terrible original songs.

Today, I sit down with The Voice Season 9 finalist Jeffery Austin to discuss how my Idol closeup got left on the cutting-room floor (along with a lot of other stuff I observed), plus we talk RuPaul’s Drag Race, the brilliance and underratedness of Sharon Needles, Botox, LGBTQ representation on reality competitions, ginger-on-ginger crime, Sasha Velour and Katya’s one-woman shows, Trixie Mattel’s upcoming movie, showmances, Siouxsie Sioux, Spinal Tap, #JusticeForJorgie, potato chip flavors, Corey Clark, Alyssa Edwards, the Hotel Café, Masked Singer karaoke, The X Factor Vietnam, and much more.

Oh yeah… and we talk about The Voice Battle Rounds, too!

Please join us in the Lay’s Recording Lounge and have a listen. (Special thanks to our American Idol pals Brandon Rogers and Blake Lewis for our “The Day After” theme song.) And, if you prefer the written word, also check out my Voice, Idol, and Drag Race articles on Yahoo Entertainment right here.
