On Aug. 15, I had the honor of hosting a Q&A following a sold-out, star-studded screening of Tyler Measom and Craig A. Williams’s If These Walls Could Rock, a new documentary about infamous Hollywood hideaway the Sunset Marquis hotel. The directors and I were joined by surprise guest Mark Rosenthal (the hotel’s president and son of Marquis founder George Rosenthal) and special guest Sharon Osbourne. The Osbournes were frequent guests at the Sunset Marquis (the only Los Angeles hotel that wouldn’t kick out Ozzy Osbourne), and the rock ‘n’ roll family used to set up camp at this home-away-from-home for months at a time. Sharon and her daughter Kelly (who confesses in the film that she had her first drink, first kiss, and first line of cocaine at the Marquis) were two of the first celebrities who agreed to appear in If These Walls Could Rock, before Morrissey, Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Michael Des Barres, and many other rock A-listers eventually signed on.

Surprisingly, Sharon had not yet seen the film, experiencing it for the first time along with everyone else in Hollywood’s Landmark Sunset Theater, and she was visibly moved after the screening as she gushed about the importance of preserving old Hollywood and its struggling entertainment industry. And she, along with Mark Rosenthal, shared some sweet family memories of the hotel. But of course, Sharon Osbourne being Sharon Osbourne, she also blurted some wild remarks, one of which expectedly went viral before at least one of the attending iPhone-wielding fans had even exited the theater.

On Aug. 12, National Vinyl Record Day (the anniversary of Thomas Edison inventing the phonograph in 1877), Good Day L.A. chatted live with me from the last standing Licorice Pizza Records, where I talked about the history of the store and why vinyl is still going strong after almost 150 years.

In the Audio Journalism category, my outrageous and unfiltered Lyndsanity conversation with the Church’s Steve Kilbey took home first prize for best Personality Profile/Interview, Entertainment Personalities (Over 10 Minutes) — which the L.A. Press Club judges described as “a smart, multi-faceted look at a singer and songwriter who gracefully and uniquely describes close to 50 years of survival as an artist” — and in the Online category, my adorable Lyndsanity interview with Vicki Peterson and John Cowsill snagged third prize for best Music Feature, Groups.

My fun Gold Derby opinion piece breaking down my personal 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot, which the judges called “excellent” and “from the heart,” scored me my other first-place trophy of the night, for best Entertainment Commentary, Arts. And rounding out my tally was third place for best Music Feature in the Magazines category, for one of my favorite articles of my career: a 25th-anniversary Gorillaz cover story for FLOOD.

I was also delighted and excited to co-present at the ceremony with actor/Travel Channel host Jack Maxwell, in front of a Millennium Biltmore Hotel ballroom audience that included many of my talented peers plus honorees like country superstar Kenny Chesney, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Maria Ressa (who Jack and I had to immediately follow!), ABC sports journalist Rob Fukuzaki, civil rights attorney Carol Sobel, and NBC’s Craig Melvin.

I am thrilled to announce that I have received seven nominations for the Los Angeles Press Club‘s 2026 Southern California Journalism Awards, including Entertainment Journalist of the Year! This nomination recognizes my work for Licorice Pizza Records, FLOOD, Gold Derby, Music Connection, and other outlets, as well as for Lyndsanity.

Three of my other nominations are for this very website, the completely independent Lyndsanity.com — including best Blog, Individual.

In the Audio Journalism category, my Lyndsanity interview with the Church’s Steve Kilbey is also up for best Personality Profile/interview, Entertainment Personalities (Over 10 Minutes) — we talked for well over 10 minutes, of course! — and in the Online category, my adorable and heart-warming interview with Vicki Peterson and John Cowsill is up for best Music Feature, Groups.

One of my favorite articles of my career, my Gorillaz cover story for FLOOD, is up for best Music Feature in the Magazines category, and I’ve also received two Online category nominations for my work with Gold Derby: best Music Feature, Solo Artists for my Sean Lennon interview, and best Entertainment Commentary, Arts for a piece breaking down my 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot, which was immense fun to write.

As tours by high-profile pop artists like Post Malone, Meghan Trainor, and the Pussycat Dolls get scaled back or canceled altogether, some industry insiders are blaming “blue dot fever,” the trend of unsold seats showing up on ticket platforms (thus signaling weaker demand).

While some performers cite production logistics or personal/health issues for their canceled concerts, others, like the Pussycat Dolls, have admitted or at least implied that low ticket sales are indeed to blame.

I joined FOX 5 New York this week to discuss how rising touring costs, over-ambitious arena bookings, and the simple fact that fewer fans are willing or able to shell out big bucks in this economy as reasons for this ticket-sales decline… and what all this might mean for the music industry in general.

I am thrilled to announce that this here site, Lyndsanity.com, just took home third prize for Entertainment Blog by an Individual Not Tied to an Organization at the Los Angeles Press Club‘s 18th annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards!

As a journalist who went totally independent exactly two years ago, in December 2023, and has been working hard to build the Lyndsanity brand ever since, just being nominated in this stacked category meant so much to me.

I also won second prize for Music Feature, Individual Artists for my Gold Derby Q&A with Sean Ono Lennon about his labor-of-love boxed set for his father’s once-misunderstood Mind Games album, and third prize for Best Arts or Entertainment Regular Podcast for a special Totally ‘80s episode about pop queen Madonna’s punk roots.

But truly, the biggest win for me was being asked to present onstage alongside Emmy- and L.A. Press Club award-winning KTLA journalist Melvin Robert, in front of an audience in the Millennium Biltmore Hotel ballroom that included Paul Anka, Henry Winkler, Marlee Matlin, Richard Marx & Daisy Fuentes, Seth Rogen & Lauren Miller, Kasi Lemmons, Larry Mantle, and so many of my talented, respected peers.

I am delighted to announce that I have been nominated in five categories for the Los Angeles Press Club’s 18th annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards!

Two of my nominations are for Entertainment Blog by an Individual Not Tied to an Organization for this very website, Lyndsanity, and for Online Journalist of the Year — Independent. As a journalist who went totally indie in December 2023 and has been toiling tirelessly to build the Lyndsanity brand ever since, I am at a rare loss for words to describe how much this recognition means to me. Thank you, L.A. Press Club. I feel so grateful and honored.

My other three nominations are for freelance projects about artists that are dear and near to my heart: a special Totally ‘80s podcast about my pop queen Madonna’s punk origins; an interview with post-punk legends Simple Minds about their resurgence and the 40th anniversary of their bittersweet Breakfast Club breakthrough; and a Q&A with Sean Ono Lennon about his Grammy-winning, labor-of-love boxed set for his father’s once-misunderstood Mind Games album.
