‘The Voice’ Top 4 Interview: Barrett Baber Reveals Blake Shelton Duet, Talks ’90s Rock & Courtney Love

The Voice Season 9 top four finalist Barrett Baber is the oldest contestant left on the show, and he was actually the only singer over age 30 in the entire top 12. Sitting at the legendary Henson Studios while on break from this week’s iTunes duet recording session with coach Blake Shelton (which Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks can exclusively reveal will be Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy”), he says his life experience, and professional gigging experience, has given him an advantage on the show – an advantage that he hopes will continue through this week’s upcoming finale.

Check out our exclusive pre-finale chat at Henson Studios, in which Barrett shares his favorite musical memories. Once you hear the stories behind his first album purchase, the first concert he attended, the song he wishes he’d written, his favorite past Voice contestant (shoutout to Luke Wade!), his preshow rituals, and more, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the man’s diverse musical background. Who would have guessed that this country guy was such a fan of Hole, Veruca Salt, and Better Than Ezra?
