The Day After Podcast with Jeffery Austin: Week of 5/18

Published On May 21, 2020 » By »

Well, “The Day After” co-host Jeffery Austin and I didn’t expect to celebrating the finale weeks for The Masked Singer, American Idol, or The Voice in quarantine — or that the contestants for those latter two show would have to perform in quarantine. But, here we are.

This week, Jeffery and I, while social-distancing ourselves and conducting our second-to-last podcast episode of the season, discuss all three finales: from Todd Tilghman’s unsurprising Voice win to Just Sam’s somewhat surprising Idol win to The Masked Singer‘s unsurprising reveals, from those Ryan Seacrest stroke rumors to The Voice‘s pathetic attempt at an “all-star” finale performance. And along the way, we throw in some talk about Songland, Smash, and Kandi’s Ski Trip, because why not?

By the way, if you were reading the above paragraph closely, then you might have noticed that I said “second-to-last podcast episode of the season.” Yes, you can’t get rid of us that easily. Jeffery and I have decided to Ru-turn next Friday, the 28th, for a one more, totally RuPaul’s Drag Race-centric episode, covering the Drag Race Season 12 reunion and finale as well  as the cast announcement for the upcoming All-Stars 5.

Special thanks to our Season 6 American Idol pals Blake Lewis and Brandon Rogers for our funky theme song. If you prefer the written word, check out my Reality Rocks articles on Yahoo Entertainment here.
