The Voice is back, and so is “The Day After,” featuring myself and Voice Season 9 top four finalist Jeffery Austin — now in even chattier, snarkier, shadier podcast form.

Today we discuss the final Knockout Rounds of The Voice Season 14, but since The Voice was only on one night this week — because, you know, we really needed another clip show — we’re mostly focusing on this week’s FOUR HOURS of American Idol, featuring Group 1 of the top 24 singing solos plus “all-star” duets with “some of the biggest names in the business.” Ahem.

Up for discussion: ABC’s lack of wardrobe and styling budgets (and the best brands of dry shampoo, for some reason), Katy Perry’s shameless (or is it shameful?) flirting, Catie Turner and Cade Foehner’s chances, and Jeffery’s new crush on mentor Bobby Bones.

If you like what you hear, get ready for plenty more, because there will be three nights of The Voice Live Playoffs next week — plus American Idol, excitingly, has already been renewed for 2019!
