Hard as it may be to believe, The Voice Season 14 and American Idol Season 16 are already over. Yes, this week, on the shows’ finales, Brynn Cartelli won the former, and Maddie won the latter. It seems like just the other day, both seasons were kicking off — and, actually, it seems like just the other day that Fox was airing its “farewell season” American Idol finale, at which dozens of alumni, including Season 6′s Blake Lewis and Brandon Rogers, sang in sob-inducing unison on the Kodak Theater stage.
So that’s why, for the final “The Day After” podcast of the spring TV season, my regular co-host, The Voice Season 9 top four finalist Jeffery Austin, and I are joined by… Blake and Brandon, for one last epic conversation! Join us as we discuss the finales in our usual snarky, gabby fashion (sometimes getting snarky about Gabby herself).
Which show had the better finale? Did the right singers win? Which winner has the better chance of success? Which show has the worse legally binding contract? And what do Blake and Brandon really think about American Idol coming back so soon? From Idol‘s Kermit, Steve Perry, and alpaca cameos and Disney showmances to The Voice‘s Kyla Jade busing and historic Kelly Clarkson victory, we cover it all for 90 glorious minutes.
And, if you prefer the written word, you can check out my Voice and Idol reviews on Yahoo Entertainment right here. Jeffery and I will be back in the fall for The Voice Season 15!
